Festivals

The Cherry Spring Festival, Valle del Jerte, Extremadura (March-May)

Eleven villages in the Jerte Valley north of Cáceres celebrate the coming of spring when the cherry trees turn the landscape completely white. The best time to visit is during the blossoming, which usually takes place at the end of March for a ten-day period. It is also interesting to come in May when the cherry fruit picking starts. Here you get the chance to taste the fresh cherries along with famous dishes from the region, such as lamb stew.
